Podcast Weeping in the West Pacific

I try not to step into social issues, but it was too good to pass up in tonight’s episode.

The stuff ends up lodged in their stomachs and coming out as little colored pellets when they die.  I knew about it, but it was seriously bad out there.  I’d go to gut a fish and get cut open by something that looked like doll jewelry.  Man, I can’t even count how many of those I spat out.  It’s scary to think if I ate any.

Tonight’s podcast was inspired by the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.  The story I wrote and read is entirely inaccurate, down to its location.  However, a brief glance at that Wikipedia article and another brief glance at Mermaid’s Tears were enough to set this whole story into motion.

Again, I don’t like to step into politically charged issues.  Even tonight, it is meant to serve as more of a backdrop than a focal point.

The next podcast is due on October 13.  Best wishes,
Andrew.
